Vincent van Gogh
art weather forecast
Suncent is a 5-day local weather forecast presented through the art of Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890). For each day of the forecast, Suncent displays a van Gogh painting that evokes the predicted weather conditions. Tap or click the painting to cycle through the five forecast days. The i (info) button on the right provides information about the project, while the t (text) button hides or displays captions. Weekdays are shown at the bottom.
All the paintings were painted in southern France (Arles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Auvers-sur-Oise) and date from 1888 to 1890, the final three years of van Gogh’s life. The high-resolution images have been taken from Wikimedia Commons and are in the Public Domain.
The app determines your current location and retrieves local weather data from the Open-Meteo network. Open-Meteo aggregates weather data from leading national and international meteorological institutions. In central Europe, France, Switzerland, the UK, and North America, high-resolution models at 1–2 km are used, global models at 9–11 km cover the remaining parts of the world.
